Step by step guide to changing your email address on the eConnect platform, including verification.
Your email address is your username on the eConnect platform. If you want to use a different email address to log in (for example because you have switched work addresses), you can add an extra email address as an alias. The new email address must be within the same domain as your current address. An email address from a different domain is in principle not possible (see below).
Log in to platform.econnect.eu.
Go to Edit profile.
At Extra email click Add.
Enter the new email address.
You will receive a verification email at the new address. Click the activation link to confirm the address.
After verification you can log in with both the original and the new email address. Both email addresses can then be used interchangeably as if they belong to the same user, with the same rights and access to the same organisations.
The verification link in the email is valid for a limited time. If you wait too long before clicking, the link expires and you need to restart the process or contact support for a new verification email.
Adding an email address from a different domain (for example from @companya.com to @companyb.com) is in principle not possible. Only after investigation by CustomerSupport can an exception be made. Both domains must then be configured as a shared domain in the platform, which is an irreversible action with security and practical consequences.
If the other domain already exists on the platform, the administrator of that other environment may need to give explicit permission.
Important risks of a shared domain: if a user still attempts to self-register after a shared domain has been set up, a separate, isolated environment is created without access to the organisation -- cleaning up such an incorrectly created environment can take several days. In addition, partner constructions between different environments are not possible with a shared domain: accountants and software partners who serve multiple clients need a separate login per client, not one overarching access.
Contact support via support.econnect.eu if you want to make use of this.
Want to replace your primary login address with a new email address? The "add extra email address" feature is designed as a supplement -- not a replacement for your primary login address. For a genuine switch of login address, the recommended approach is to create a new account with the new email address.
Are you using an email address with the same domain as your existing environment (e.g. new@yourcompany.com while the environment runs on yourcompany.com)? Then the new account will automatically be linked to the same environment. An administrator will then give you the appropriate rights and link you to the organisations.
This automatic linking to the existing environment cannot be avoided as long as both email addresses share the same domain -- not even if you intended to create a separate, unlinked account. Do you still want a fully separate, unlinked second account on the same domain? The only route is a shared-domain conversion (see Add an extra email address) -- with the associated irreversible downsides, such as no partner constructions and cleanup risk on self-registration. Unlinking an account from the domain without a shared-domain conversion is not possible: as long as the domain is shared, automatic linking to the same environment is standard behaviour, not an error.
Does the activation link for an extra email address you added not work? In that case, creating a new account is also the recommended approach.
If you can no longer use the original email address and no extra alias has been set up, contact support. After verifying your identity (via the email address known to eConnect or a Chamber of Commerce extract), the support team can update the account.
Yes, after verification you can log in with both the original and the new email address. Both email addresses can be used interchangeably as if they belong to the same user, with the same rights and access to the same organisations.
The verification link in the email has a limited validity. If the link has expired, you can restart the process via Edit profile > Extra email > Add. If that does not work, contact support via support.econnect.eu for a new verification email.
